How Your Lack of Rest & Recovery is Blocking You From Better Fat Loss & Health

How Your Lack of Rest & Recovery is Blocking You From Better Fat Loss & Health

One of the issues making people struggle with fat loss, improved healing and metabolic health imbalances, is lack of integrating recovery more effectively into your lifestyle & fitness approach, or program design.

Living a lifestyle of constant, endless stress, OR over training your body in a state of constant stress, actually can keep you from living a fat loss & balanced health lifestyle.

When you do this, you are over cueing your bodies natural built-in stress response systems & as a response it begins to back down parasympathetic nervous system function and over work your sympathetic nervous system, your fight or flight response system. You’re basically over-cueing your body  to think it’s in a dangerous situation it needs to up-ramp a metabolic stress response to, so you are prepared to “fight”, to keep you safe & alive. This goes back thousands of years ago to the way the human body is hardwired essentially for survival in Paleo times.

As you continue to repeated overcue it into stress mode, your digestion slows, your nutrient absorption slows, HCL levels in the stomach to digest foods may become ineffective, internal inflammation & pH can rise, calories get stored more on the body. All sorts of goodies you’re not recognizing, yet YOU are telling it to do!

Adrenaline & cortisol are released, the immune system is suppressed, blood sugar levels increase, your liver releases more glucose to aid in muscle function which all make fat loss harder. You are 100% threatening your body, and blocking it from metabolizing fat & managing health better for you.

If your body is perceiving it’s locked up in a state of threat or danger that is constant by how you’re over-using or mis-cueing it, you could be consuming an excellent nutrient-dense diet, and it won’t matter b/c you’re not absorbing or utilizing nutrients as effectively as you could be.

Consider your lifestyle and your training approach right now.

  • Are you potentially over training?
  • Are you doing too much HIIT training?
  • Do you work in low steady state activities & cardio options?
  • Do you work in stress management activities?
  • Do you take time to just BE?
